Someone told me, "we know we have forgiven when we wish happiness for the other person." This takes strength to accept that sometimes things don't go as we would like. Sometimes the forgiveness we need the most is for ourselves.
Forgiveness is like staying up all night to watch the sunrise. There are moments you are exhausted and wonder if it is worth it. There is frustration in putting ourselves in that position. Then somewhere in the quiet of night, just as the sun is breaking over the horizon there is a peace that seems to break the silence and reminds us that within everything is beauty. We just have to make it through the darkness to see it.
